We’re working to make sure older people can confidently take part in today’s digital world.
What is digital inclusion?
Digital inclusion means everyone has what they need to use digital technology in everyday life—whether that’s connecting with whānau, accessing services, or staying informed.
There are four key parts to digital inclusion:
- Access – Having affordable, easy-to-use devices and internet services
- Motivation – Feeling ready and willing to use digital tools
- Skills – Knowing how to use devices and apps to get things done. This is sometimes called digital literacy
- Trust – Feeling safe and confident when using the internet.
Why it matters
Being digitally included helps older people stay connected, informed, and independent. It also makes it easier to access important services like banking, healthcare, and government support.
