New Age-friendly Grants support projects from Chatham Islands to Auckland
Twelve new community-led projects to help older New Zealanders stay connected, active, and valued will receive support from the 2025 Age-friendly Fund.
From intergenerational cooking in Auckland to dementia-friendly volunteering in Wellington, the new initiatives reflect the creativity and commitment of communities across Aotearoa.
For the first time, funding is reaching the Chatham Islands. Heartlands’ Fix It project will help older people find ways to repair or recycle goods locally that might otherwise go unused.
Other grant recipients include:
· New Settlers Family And Community Trust: Supporting senior refugee women to improve wellbeing and strengthen social connections through recreation, walks, and sharing kai.
· Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust: Delivering bilingual workshops to help older South Asian migrants build digital confidence and strengthen cultural connections.
· Estuary Arts Charitable Trust: Offering senior caregivers a free weekly art programme and social coffee session for whanau.
Thank you to everyone who applied. We received a record number of quality applications this year.
